The Stone Fence was drunk in New England in the 1700s. Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys are said to have had a few before capturing Fort Ticonderoga in 1775.
The beer and cider family. Beer has been mixed with other drinks for centuries. The British "shandygaff" mixed beer with ginger beer in the 1850s, the Black Velvet dates to 1861 and Mexico's michelada adds lime and spice. Beer drinks are long, light and easy to make for a crowd.
