About the Revolver
The coffee family. Coffee and spirits have long been paired across Europe, from the Spanish carajillo to the Italian caffè corretto. Irish Coffee was created at Foynes in Ireland in the early 1940s, and the Espresso Martini in London in the 1980s. These drinks belong to the after-dinner tradition.
Revolver FAQ
What's in a Revolver?
60 ml bourbon, 15 ml coffee liqueur, 2 dashes orange bitters, garnished with flamed orange peel.
How strong is a Revolver?
About 30% ABV once mixed with ice, which is 2.2 Australian standard drinks per serve. That is close to a straight spirit, so sip it slowly.
Should I shake or stir a Revolver?
Stir it. It is made only of spirits and wines, so stirring keeps it clear and silky. Shaking would make it cloudy and frothy.
What glass do you serve a Revolver in?
A coupe, about 180 ml. Chill the glass first and serve without ice. No coupe? Use a martini glass or small wine glass.
