About the Negroni Sbagliato
"Sbagliato" means "mistaken" in Italian. The story goes that in the late 1960s or early 1970s bartender Mirko Stocchetto at Bar Basso in Milan reached for sparkling wine instead of gin while making a Negroni. The happy mistake became one of Milan's signature drinks, and it went viral worldwide in 2022.
The spritz family. The spritz is said to date from Austrian rule in north-east Italy in the 1800s, when soldiers added a splash ("spritzen") of water to the local wine. Bitter aperitivo liqueurs and sparkling wine were added in the 20th century, and the spritz became a global summer drink in the 2000s.
